We all know there is either 'hot' or 'cold' when it comes to climate spectrums. But imagine if there is more spectrums besides 'hot' and 'cold' to feel that no human has felt before . If there is a planet out there with different laws of nature than our own, maybe this planet has a new type of climate which is has this new spectrum ,so maybe the seasons on this planet look like this:

winter (cold)
spring
summer (hot)
fall
new season (new spectrum)

If a planet 1)has no tilt of its vertical axis, 2)its equator is coincidental with its plane of revolution around its sun, and 3)its orbit around its sun is not very elliptical, then it has no seasons. So its "new season" would be equilibrium.

Interesting idea.. so "equilibrium" would be the same as mild?

I guess in that scenario the averages would be the constant norms. Seasonless world is interesting, though probably much less habitable than now.

Any place with a short rainy season or a short growing / frost free season would be kind of screwed though. Many places that are tundra or boreal now would be icecap; many savanna climates would turn to desert. There would be more rainforest but only by virtue of the equatorial lows never leaving the equator.

Add to that, Vancouver would be stuck in a permanent October/April. No thanks!

The climate of Mercury is far out enough. It goes from -50C or so at night to 350C in the daytime. I actually had no idea Mercury could get cold!

Mercury's extreme heat/cold contrast is weird enough.
