Okay, here is a three-way climate battle between three different Los Angeles (two fictional and the real climate).

The first is the real Los Angeles (see downtown):
Los Angeles - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The second is bchris02's fictional climate:

The third is a hypothetical climate where the US is horizontally reversed (the east coast is the new west coast).

Here is how the planet would look if all continents were reversed horizontally:

The Los Angeles in this scenario would be very prone to hurricanes and the mountains will provide orographic lift and will definitely block cold air mass intrusion in winter.

As for my preference, I'll go with my own creation, the Cwa Los Angeles because it has higher intensity of rainfall than the other two and thunderstorms are very common in summer.

I've done more climates in the above scenario...Houston would be even more hellish!

The east coast LA wouldn't be that dry in the winter.

I'll take the real one.. looks the best. Just out of curiosity, why did you make the record lows in winter for the Cwa LA so high? certainly I think they'd be quite a bit lower than that. The Appalachians in real life on the east coast don't block out a lot of cold air during cold snaps.

Agreed. The Appalachians aren't near as tall so they don't block moisture/frontal systems near to the extent that the rockies do. If the Appalachians were as tall as the Rockies, the east coast would be semi-arid, receiving rainfall only during tropical storm season.

The real one

The reserved one is too cold in winter compared to the summer heat and is too wet in the summer.

The other is okay, but it's not really an improvement over the real LA because the added rain means more rain days and the days added are too many.

I love Cwa, so number three, though this has the downside of hurricanes ( and likely, landslides a lot more serious than LA currently gets ).

Number three, though real LA has better temperatures.

Is anyone else much more interested in what would be going on in the Sahara and Japan in these scenarios?
