26 C now -- I knew MetService had to get it right eventually!

If it were sunny I'd say we'd be breaking 30 C today, but we're overcast with high cloud.

Edit: 28 C now at 11:30 AM. And the clouds are parting somewhat.

The rest of New Zealand don't exceed the 20's

What are you trying to say? Highish temps in NW conditions can be experienced in the east from about Dunedin to Gisborne plus occasionally Bay of Plenty and eastern Northland. Ch'ch has no mortgage on 30s.

If you're referring to one particular day, there could be significant differences over a quite short distance depending on local airflow and cloud cover.
