Just like the Atacama desert in South America, the Namib desert is also on the western coast of the continent and not less arid. Rainfall is only 10 mm (0.4 inches) per year and the coast is often covered in thick fog during the morning.
So despite being so arid, the city probably does not have very high sunshine hours due to the frequent fog.
Temperatures are also surprisingly cool for a coastal location in the tropics, due to the cold Benguela current.
I would rate it a D, temperatures look comfortable throughout the year from the averages but it would be very dull with the frequent morning fog and i wouldn't be surprised if the fog does not always disappear during the afternoon hours especially during the winter. Also seasons do practically not exist and the rainfall is way too low.
Abhorrent for the latitude. I couldn't live there knowing that just about everywhere else at a similar latitude has average LOWS warmer than the highs here. Also must be incredibly boring, no thunderstorms ever, no variety nothing.
Gets a bit of fog there apparently, which reduces sunshine @ Hells Kitchen.
Gets an A- for perpetual mildness especially at what is normally a fierce latitude, would prefer just slightly warmer summers - but only need to go a few K's inland for this.
Not sure of the accuracy of Wiki here either:
One site gives average sunshine as 2646 hours, which while modest by S African standards, is quite a good total. Dryness a big plus. B-.
