Well, it actually formed. I was skeptical that they could predict such a thing a day or more in advance, but looking at the radar composite at 8:34AM, it's pretty clear one has formed and is bearing down on D.C.
Lucky this storm system formed in the early AM before daytime heating had a chance to further destabilize the atmosphere. It should be out to sea by mid-afternoon when it will be strongest.
