So basically I am asking you guys what latitude range have most of your favorite climate. Well, there is the dream climate analysis (thanks to PM), but I want to have a proper thread when it comes to latitude...Mine is 53-72 (roughly), for coastal locations. This makes a combination of mild to cool summers, and moderately cool winters, with lots of cloud.
My range was always around 25 to 35 N/S. My reasoning was that in the very low latitudes below (25 N/S) there is really very little temp change from month to month. Add in the heat, humidity, insects, more frequent rain in the wet season (which last 7 to 8 months as you get closer to the equator), and other issues ...and its too far south. On the other hand much above 40 latitude issues with low sun angles in winter, more stormy, cold temps, snow, ice, cloudy skies...etc are the big issues. In the subtropical latitudes one seems to miss alot of the bad issues with both areas to the north and south. 30 latitude would be the perfect middle.
Anywhere from the equator (at high altitudes) to about 60N in Europe, 50N in North America, 45N in Asia and 45S in South America and Oceania.
More or less the same for me, except those would be my upper limits and my lower limits would be anything up to 10 degrees lower. All other things being equal, I'd take the higher-latitude climate over the lower-latitude one because I like the bigger difference in daylight between summer and winter. Living at 54 latitude suits me fine though.
