Very interesting that Bridgeport, CT has had as much as a gulf state for wettest year on record. Not sure where the Mid Atlantic location is but its less than us. What's the furthest north most location with the wettest year near my total?

New York City (JFK).
Bridgeport's total is extremely high, especially to be so close (relatively speaking), but the difference even across New York City can be high, Central Park averages 7-8 inches more rainfall than JFK Airport and they're no more than 20 miles apart.
And rain just kept falling into the night, bringing the daily total--and the new record--up to 8.02 inches for Philadelphia. Additionally, some heavy rain and thunder woke me up around 1:30 this morning, and I guess Philadelphia probably got some of that too, any while obviously anything after midnight doesn't count towards yesterday's precipitation totals, the total rainfall in a period of less than 24 hours was even greater.
May 2, 2010. 7.25" of rain. (May 1-2, 2010 had 13.57" of rain.)
May 2010 had 16.43", a record. It was the wettest month on record just by the May 1-2 event alone.
1979 had 70.12" of rain. (It had the second wettest day on record, September 13, 1979. The first was May 2, 2010, third was May 1, 2010)
