Although there is a thread for Marquette, MI, Houghton is 100 miles to the northwest of there, and it features more snow, slightly cooler temps and just a "more perfect" climate than what Marquette can offer.
winters are too short and a little too warm, too. summers on the other hand are definetely too warm, but still tolerable. Precipitation is good year-round and snowfall is pretty awesome. it also seems like there's not very much winter rain, although I'm not really sure about that. All in all a B+ climate. Summers are warmer than here in my hometown, but because of the awesome amount of snowfall I'd definetely like to live there.
Very snowy and extremely cold, with cool summers. Michigan's climate isn't for me.
I'll rate it F.
If you were there last July when I went, you wouldn't have called it "extremely cold" - it was rather hot (try upper 80's degrees and humid to boot - the low one morning was in the mid-70's) for a few days while we were there. Hot enough to make me want to go for a refreshing *cool* dip in Lake Superior...lol. The hot weather did yield some rewards in the way of some vigorous thunderstorms, which is always nice wherever I go.
It's also good to note that the Keweenaw is actually warmer in the winter months than the surrounding terrain of MN and Wisconsin, due to the moderating effect of lake Superior. Wintertime highs in the 20's I consider perfect for outdoors activity - not so cold that you risk frostbite, but cold enough to avoid the ugly slush problem you see in other winter climates - even Marquette has slush problems from time to time in winter.
Fantastic climate. Cold and snowy winters, relatively comfortable summers...superior compared to what I deal with now. July is just a tad too warm, but it's not enough to even warrant lowering the grade.

I, of course, give this climate an A grade.
Well the winter is very cold, and long there. I think they may appreciate some warm spells in the summer.
Oh, I know well the slush problem...I live in a world capital of dirty slush
I'd say it's a solid "E" climate, but that isn't an option so I'll give it an F+.
Its winters are way too cold, and its summers aren't hot enough for my liking.
