Below freezing lows every single day from now on according to 10 day forecasts. Does not surprise me since below freezing lows are the average in late November. Would like to hear when Central Texas and inland California will have their first freeze.
I wanted to go hiking in the Poconos (about 2.5 hours from here) again this weekend. I could choose to go Saturday (forecast high temperature there of 39F/4C) or Sunday (forecast high of only 27F (-3c) ). The Mount Pocono weather station has already seen a subfreezing high this season on the 13th. Going on Sunday seems pretty tempting; I'll just need extra layers, for sure. No football game to miss, either - the Eagles have a bye.
Expect 11 freezes in the next 2 weeks, with a possibility of approaching a below freezing high as well next week for the suburbs (If predictions say 36 F in NYC, 32 F is not out of question for central NJ) accompanied by snowflakes .
After today I don't think all of NYC experienced freezing temperatures. In Manhattan, bananas and other tender plants look untouched. Nothing looks dead, other than the few trees that dropped their leaves.
And another thing, I believe my location saw freezing temperatures, but the growing season is still ongoing, so what is the significance of 0C/32F if things still grow?

That sounds like a lot. I'm not doubting we'll see freezing temperatures, but 11/14 days with freezing lows will not be happening, lol. Maybe in January or February.

Hope the snow pans out. I'm jealous. In TN the 45 day forecast has no below freezing highs until December 4 or something... and no snow. But those forecasts that far out are notoriously inaccurate. You can't put much stock in anything beyond 7-10 days. So while the forecasts to November 1 or so are probably going to be close, the mid to late November predictions could be way off.
I want a good November snowstorm
Over a year later lol... first ice day in winter 2013-2014 was Dec. 7. Nov. 24 was close (35 F / 2 C in Nashville) - may have been an ice day IMBY. And I got my November snowstorm on Nov. 25.
Definitely below freezing now and has been on and off a few times this winter already!
