DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) -- Snow and ice plastered a wide area of the Midwest on Saturday, interrupting campaigning by presidential hopefuls, disrupting airport and highway traffic and killing at least two people.

The National Weather Service posted winter storm and ice warnings across parts of Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, the eastern Dakotas, Illinois and northern Michigan, although some warnings were lifted by midday.

Six to 16 inches of snow was forecast in parts of Minnesota.

While it is rare to get a Winter Storm like this in December, I do think that the media overreported this. I can name a number of systems much worse than what just happened in the midwest.

We got about 1/2" of snow at best, followed by rain, most of which iced overnight and melted by the next morning. Today was sunny and nice, 99% of the snow is already gone.
