Despite living so far up north it is a rare occurence happening only every few years.
Our average low in July is 13.7°C and 13.5°C in August yet, the low temperature range is very narrow only varying between 12 and 17°C (54-63°F) in most nights.

The reason for that is that the large water body of the Northsea is to our Northwest and North, so that even air originating in the arctic regions gets significantly moderated by the warmish sea (which has temperatures about 16-18°C then), so that even in a clear night with weak winds it hardly ever drops below 10°C/50°F during July and August.

As go further inland away from the coast, single digits (C) summer nights become more common, but even there a low below 8°C/46°F is rare during July and August, except for some cold sinks where the temperature could drop to below 5°C/41°F in the best conditions.

How is it where you live?

BTW with "midsummer" i refer to the months of July and August, and January and February for the Southern Hemisphere.

Never happened in Nice, record lows for July and August are both around 12-13°C, and 15°C since 2000.
(Avgerage low for those months is 20-21°C)

No temperature below 10°C has been recorded from June 7 to September 26 included.

Record low in June is 8.1°C (June 6, 1969). (10.4°C since 2000).

Pretty often.

We can go a consecutive week with single figure mins. But then we can also have mild nights like 17 or 18c.

Usually it depends but if it is a mild summer we only get about 10 single figure mins in a month but if its cold then we would get about 15/20.

For example.
http://www.tutiempo.net/en/Climate/C...2011/39040.htm

I think the reason why we get cold nights is because the sea is only about 12 or 13c and sometimes we can get the 0c isotherm in the summer. I think we got as low as -3c one summer.
In the summer our climate is more like Labrador than anywhere else whereas in the winter its more like somewhere much warmer.

We get on average 1.4 such nights in July and 2.3 in August, totalling 3.7 nights each midsummer.

Paris-Montsouris gets on average 0.0 such nights in July and 0.2 in August.

Beauvais airport (40 miles NNW) gets 5.4 in July and 5.9 in August. Yuck.

Colorado Springs, CO. Happens quite a few times per month. I may have understated it in the poll. The average low is 56.4F in July. That's 13.5c. We have a strong variance, so we also get a few days where it won't go under 68. Some where it will go under 45, but it is rare. The record low for July is 37F / 2.7c.

Edit: For those unfamiliar with mountain climates, the temp range is huge. The average high in July is 84. Yes, a 28 degree difference on average from the low to the high. As a result, people enjoy the weather cooling off substantially in the evenings during the summer.
