Doesn't feel that bad as it's been hot and often rather humid for a week before. Cold canadian air plus thick clouds, I think we've broken the daily record though not the June record.

How cold can it get there in June?

Coldest record high in June is 46°F, but that was in 1907. Every other day that month hasn't had a max below 50°F. That same year recorded a 29°F in June.

Unfortunately it is very hard to find records like that in the UK, data is very hard to access. Heathrow only goes back to 1949? And for some reason they closed Camden down a while ago. Likely the Heathrow reading is the lowest ever though, as Camden in general averaged 0.6C higher than Heathrow when it was in operation.

The start of June in recent years has tended to have some cool temperatures though. 16C today, 15C on the 4th last year, 15C on the 9th in 2013, 15C again on the 4th in 2012, 16C on the 6th in 2011, 14C on the 1st in 2010.. in fact I can't remember the last time that the first 10 days in June were completely warm.

I'll probably do some more Northeast traveling this summer, but I've covered a lot at this time though maybe not "total blanket coverage". When was the last time you were up here?
Although I've been in New York State a number of times over the years (recently as last year) - 1994 was the last time I've ventured in the New England region proper (NYC last in 2002). Too long, I know. :/

Thinking of a doing a comprehensive trip up that way next summer, since I'll need to put off seeing St Louis (and consequently those other places I've mentioned) until '17, so I can see the completed St Louis Arch redevelopment project.

No, we'll be missing Eureka Springs. Looks a bit too Gatlinburgy, though it seems more historic.

You've had June highs in the 40's?

I'd like to know what our record low high for June is. Probably around 65 F...lol.

Some places in the Canadian Arctic haven't even gotten above freezing yet. Resolute is one, max temperature so far 31.8 F / -0.1 C on May 29th. Alert's max so far this year is a bone chilling 22.8 F / -5.1 C! Eureka has hit 34.9 F / 1.5 C, crossing freezing for the first time yesterday (May 31st).

Bummer. I plan on staying 2-3 nights when I go out that way. I hope you'll get to take in Crystal Bridges anyhow.
