It looks like a large part of the mid to lower Mississippi River valley had its record coldest July since 1895.

Only reason some areas in Washington state are near or above average in precipitation is because of a day where they had some serious storms.

Plus summer is their dry season, so it doesn't take much to get "average."

Here is the Google map for British Columbia:

A few more lines on July 2014 in Norway.

Sunhours for Oslo ready: 302 sunhours for July. Oslo had 267 in June.

New record high monthly mean (24-hr) for a lot of stations (and record high max temp). But also further into the fjords. Both Bergen and Trondheim set new all - time high for monthly mean.

Many of the stations with longest unbroken observations with new all time high monthly mean (24-hr) temperatures, often old lighthouses facing the open sea. Here are som of the stations with longest observation history: monthly mean (24-hr), start of observations/recording (year) and old record. Starting in the S and going North.

  • Lista fyr (lighthouse, S extreme tip of Norway): 18.8C. Recordings since 1867. Old record 17.4C from 2006.
  • Obrestad fyr (lighth., SW tip): 17.6C. Recordings since 1918. Old record 16.6C from 2003, 2006 and 2008.
  • Sauda (innermost fjord SW): 18.8C. Recordings since 1928. Old record 18.1C from 2006.
  • Utsira Fyr (lighth., SW coast): 17.1C. Recordings since 1867. Old record 16.9C from 2003.
  • Tafjord (innermost fjord E of Ã…lesund): 17.9C. Recordings since 1930. Old record 17.6C from 2003.
  • Nordøyan Fyr (lighth, NNW of Trondheim): 16.2C. Recordings since 1890. Old record 16.1C from 1925.
  • Skrova fyr (lighth., Lofoten islands): 17.2C. Recordings since 1931. Old record 16.6C from 1937.
  • Bardufoss (inland Troms): 17.7C. Recordings since 1941. Old record 16.9C from 1960.
