Parade magazine posted a study based on the number of heating and cooling days of major metro areas in the USA in search of the best climate and the winner was Oakland California...

Back in the day... Oakland was nearly all farmland... mostly orchards and no irrigation necessary...

Growing up the only time I can remember ever using heat was at Christmas when elderly family members came to visit... still today... not a single home in my area has A/C.

Of course there are no more farms here... the last one hung on for years until the land became just to valuable.

Surely the answer is highland East Africa because thats where humans first evolved. Temperatures averaging around 70F/21C all year, enough rain for a reliable supply of water but no more: without the dry season we would still be tree dwelling apes.

Tristan da Cunha? Never Frost, no temperatures above 25°C, rain or more less evenly spread throughout the year. It might a gloomy place though..

Good find. I would also say Addis Ababa, being that it's the city closest to where modern humans purportedly evolved, the Ethiopian Highlands
