Hilo, Hawaii- uniform, warm temperatures year round. Little seasonal or diurnal range but VERY rainy without any dry or even drier season. Most rainy days of any place in the Northern Hemisphere. Fewer sunshine hours and less thunderstorms than most tropical climates so I'm assuming it rains for longer durations rather than the intense brief afternoon downpours that Florida gets. Not as hot as most tropical climates get so humidity remains a lot more pleasant than Florida's summers or Singapore. However, it's probably very difficult to plan a picnic or any outdoor activity that requires dry weather. The plus side is everything stays lush and green and the rain is still warm enough to "play" in wearing summer clothes.
Turpan, China: HUGE temperature difference between seasons but very little precipitation. Hot summers, cold winters but no thunderstorms and very, very little snow. Just mostly dry heat and dry cold. Would the cold lovers still choose it for the seasons despite the lack of snow and dry landscape? Would they be willing to put up with the oppressive heat with little shade?
Curious how this one will go; since cold lovers are also usually weather enthusiasts, would some of them choose a wet and mild climate over an extremely dry one that has seasonal temperature variation?
Hilo, simply due to the reliable rainfall and the record highs being so low, coupled with a fickle sun unlike a strong Miami-type sunshine. However, if this were changed to Honolulu vs. Turpan, then I would revert to Turpan as Honolulu is nearly semi-arid; Hilo at least has the persistent threat of rain to break the monotone mood, while even in the height of summer Turpan it would be a great game to see how high those temps can soar, and the winters there must feel refreshing given the ample sunshine
I would not mind traveling to Turpan for a week. Seems like a nice place to visit in spite of the terrible climate.
Interesting video; I would love to do a two week tour of China but only would want to spend a day or two in Turpan. Other areas of the country look much more appealing. China and India have kinda of similar histories and cultures?
As for the climate, I'd choose Hilo in a heartbeat. Warm rain year round makes beautiful landscapes and it wouldn't be that inconvenient to go through. Just wear a poncho when you want to keep dry. I can live without picnics and BBQs. Also there are much drier microclimates that are a short distance away that I could visit.
