December's not over yet but our official weather station logs the previous day's data for today's date. I don't know why.
So here goes. Corvallis, Oregon; NWS weather station at Hyslop Field, north of town:
Average Max; 51.3 (10.7), +5.1 (2.9)
Average Min: 39.3 (4.1), +5.3 (3)
Rainfall; 7.93 inches (201.4mm) or +0.3 (7.62)
This was the warmest December in 65 years and fourth warmest ever. This, in spite of a cold wave now affecting the entire American West and Midwest sending temperatures down to near -40 (either) in some of the higher mountain valleys in the northern Rockies.
Since July we have had five months of significantly higher than long term average temperatures and only November and August brought less than average rainfall. This brought our average rainfall for the year to a bit over average and gave us the warmest year since 1992. A much cooler than average February and bang on normal November kept us from a record setting warm year.
What I found odd about this year and its unusual warmth was we did this in spite of mild to moderate La Nina conditions up to about June and a PDO (Pacific Decadal Oscillation) that is still negative - in spite of its weakened state - and should have brought cooler conditions than long term to our little corner of the world.
As for 2015 and beyond, the Climate Prediction Center has us a little warmer and a little dryer for the first three months and then pretty much plain vanilla for the rest of the year. My expectations for January are a little dryer and a little cooler than standard.
3 hours early, but not much that can change. a wetter and slightly warmer than normal december finishes the warmest year on record in göteborg. the previous annual average temperature record is beaten by 0.6C(!).

Zagreb - annual summary:
Average high: 17.8c (+2.1c)
Average low: 8.4c (+3.0c)
-Probably the warmest year ever.
-It's interesting how no months averaged lows below freezing.
Precipitation: 1485.8 mm (+629.7 mm or 173% of the average; the wettest year ever)
Sunshine: About 1661 hours (-252.3 or 86% of the average, quite gloomy)
January:
Very mild, record warm in the first 20 days, but with a cold front in the final days that dropped temperatures below -10c and brought >30 cm of snow to Zagreb.
Extremely warm and wetter and gloomier than average. B-
February:
Also very mild, without any cold spells. The wettest February ever (with about 200% of precipitation of the second wettest February), also very gloomy.
We got >100 mm of rain during a 24 hour period in this month. B-, with extremes raising the grade.
March:
The warmest ever and the only dry month this year. Sunnier than average. B
April:
Wet, very gloomy and warmer than average. No extremes this month, but it was very enjoyable. A-
May:
The same as April but without being gloomy. A
June:
Warmer, wetter and sunnier than average, with a few strong thunderstorms and the only heat wave this year mid-month. A
July:
Slightly warmer, gloomier and much wetter than average. An extremely exciting month due to severe thunderstorms. A+
August:
Slightly warmer, slightly gloomier and slightly wetter than average. Some nice thunderstorms (but not as much as July) and comfortable temperatures, especially towards the end of the month. A
September:
The wettest one ever and the wettest month in >30 years. Slightly warmer than average and the gloomiest ever (by far). Very exciting due to heavy rain, flooding, thunderstorms and lack of sunshine. A+
October:
Much wetter than average due to three really wet days, but otherwise very warm and slightly gloomier than average. It had a "heat wave" mid-month, which almost broke the record high for October in Zagreb. A
November:
Slightly drier than average, gloomy and very warm. Nothing special going on here, although it had some really nice days in the beginning and a sunless spell starting on the 21st. B-
December:
Much sunnier than average which is surprising because it finished a spell of 19 consecutive sunless days on the 10th. A very mild spell from the 10th to the 20th and then a cooldown with coolest temperatures since February 2012 and a nice snowstorm. Wetter and warmer than average. B-
Some meteorological phenomena in the rest of Croatia:
While Zagreb had a lot of rain in February, the Gorski kotar region experienced substantial freezing rain, with up to 80 mm of freezing rain in places, which resulted in the worst natural disaster in Croatian history.
As this year was extremely wet, Croatia experienced numerous floods, with the worst one being the one that hit Slavonia in May. Most of the region was completely flooded and looked like a giant lake from air.
While Croatian coastal cities (except Rijeka) tend to be quite dry in summer, this year this wasn't the case with plentiful rainfall and frequent severe thunderstorms.
There were countless heat records broken (but none in summer), and some coastal locations experienced tropical nights (>20c) in December.
As I already mentioned, the final ten days of the year brought cold weather, with whole Croatia experiencing below freezing temperatures. Palagruža even recorded a snow cover (for the first time in history), even though its lowest temperature ever is just slightly below freezing.
There were also numerous bura and jugo events, with highest gusts above 200 km/h recorded the final week of December in the Velebit channel.
I've attached the climate charts for various Croatian locations.

same as with the city: warmest year ever, alltough only by 0.1C. makes me suspect UHI played a major role for the new-set city record.
