The month was average in temperature: the max was above average, and the min was below average.
The first half was very cold, dry and cloudy, but the second half saw a pleasant sunny warm spell.
It was locally a dry month, and we notably "missed" a major rain event on 27th which dumped 50mm (2") of rain just 10-20 miles west, keeping the month dry to the end.
Sunshine not available yet but it was probably about average.

A slightly colder than normal April and a cold early May here in the central Great Lakes. Here, spring is late this year and so far, no end in sight. Risk for frosts will likely continue for the next two weeks.
The "Alberta clipper" pattern keeps re-emerging. Until that stuff ends, pretty much the same cooler than normal regime.
Nothing extreme, but the type of cold drizzly May that you dread in these parts.
