How would you rate the climate of Memphis, TN?

Memphis, Tennessee - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I give it an A-. Interesting climate, with nice seasonal variation. Would be ideal if rainfall distribution was better (more during the summer and not as much during late fall, early winter, and spring) and lower tornado risk.

(I'm surprised this one hasn't been done yet individually, but it was part of a few climate battle threads.)

Winters look good, summers way too hot and linger too long though - D+.

A-, winters could be a bit milder, everything else appears to be perfect.

Summers are a bit hot / humid... Well, such heat would more tolerable with less humidity (or vice-versa !).

Winters are a bit too mild as well, but the record lows are interesting. Not enough snow for me, though. Quite rainy too, but i suppose a lot comes in the form of thunderstorms.

Very sunny as well. Good seasonal variation nonetheless.

I give this one a B-

A-material except summer, which is too warm (particularly the lows).

C. It can feel like summer will never end. Winters are too short and mild. Freezing rain and sleet is about as common as actual snow. About the record lows, the temperature hasn't even gotten close to the 1963 -13F record low since 1989. Since 2000, the coldest temperature was only 8F, even during "the polar vortex attack"

I lived there for about 30 years and besides the humidity which is.... oh... 110 heat index for weeks sometimes no relief after the sun goes down so.... walking onto your porch at 10pm to a blast furnace... My horses were so miserable. I couldn't even put fly sheets on them for fear of them overheating. Wait... BESIDES the heat, there is a SERIOUS air quality issue there. Anyone who has ever lived there knows how bad sinus problems are there. I personally think it's because of all the cotton chemicals they broadcast via cropduster. So... weather? I'd give it a D for that reason alone.

Oddly enough it has the best water quality in the country but the aquaduct thingy is the reason. Geothermal can't be done there for fear of disturbing the water supply.

D-/E+

The summers are truly terrible, not anything different from the Southeast. The humidity/heat index like someone said is nasty, my allergies are insane as well and that goes for the whole South, so bad that daily life is miserable. Can't see /stop my eyes watering or shake that constant sneezing feeling... Reminding me of that gave me an appreciation of what little or even the illness I feel in other places because of sinuses. Had a bad year this year but nothing like what I had at times in the South, thank God.
