^^

It really depends on the timing of the thunderstorms. If they occur later in the evening then maybe they will

Here's what the Euro00z says for NYC till July 1st

Dew points stay in the 60s then drop to 50s for the weekend and into next week. Trough digs down into the Northeast

Lots of rain chances continue with fronts and storms.. I'm Loving this summer.
Except at LGA, which hit 92 on 6/11, still waiting on Central Park and JFK though.

I didn't expect these temps today.. 5pm NYC at 88. Lets see if they peaked to 90 today. Wow. Thought Tuesday was the better chance.

There's always tomorrow.

For the gloom and doom about late June-early July, there are often breaks in these patterns. Even the gloomy summer of 1969 (featuring similar troughing) had a mid-month four-day heat wave and August, notwithstanding the Woodstock thunderstorms, was not bad. Most of the four or five 90''s in that August would have been 86's or 87's in Central Park with the tree cover but August was not a washout.

Only 2000 and 2004 were almost totally miserable, though 2004 had some nice weather in August.

Will ISP reach 90F for the first time since July 20, 2013? What about HWV and FOK?

That's right.. whats a nice stat to have..... actually..... Did I hit 90 last year? lmao. Maybe I'm waiting since 2013 as well.. Gonna check now.

Edit:: Nope. I hit 90 twice last year in July. 90.7 & 90.1. So it's been since 2013 getting to 91°.

JFK hit 90 today, that only leaves Central Park.

That's insane that it hasn't hit 90F in the time that I've lived here. Looking back at my own records I see that I hit 90F only three times last year, once during meteorological spring (05/27), summer (7/08), and fall (09/02).

Global warming. Much last NYC's last two winters. </sarcasm>

One quibble. Many meteorologists use June 6 to September 6 as meteorological summer, which seems to make sense. 90's are fairly common through my 58 year life and 48 years following weather into Labor Day weekend, and they fall off sharply after. Exceptions were such years as 1970, 1972 (a 92 degree reading two Sundays after Labor Day), 1983, 1991 and 1993. Even years with searing late-season heat, such as 1953, 1973 and 2010 (97-99 and in one case 100+ in early September) usually fall off fast during the second week of September.

Yup.. JFK hit 90° for 1st time and LGA hit again. That leaves NYC still. Only 88 today with Islip. http://mesonet.agron.iastate.edu/ASOS/current.phtml?sortcol=max_tmpf&network=NY_ASOS&met ar=no&sorder=desc&format=html
