Thank you for the link. We just heard a bit about it on national news tonight. That is so sad. There have been a lot of people who have lost their lives this winter in avalanches and on the roads.

It is a sad event. The unusual thing about this news event is that the word "avalanche" is associated with the place "Los Angeles", not one of the typical avalanche sites like the Rockies or Sierra Nevada. I was looking at the snow capped San Gabriel Mountains and the 11000' peak of Mt San Antonio (aka Mt Baldy) today and noticed how heavy the snow cover looked from our recent storm that passed through. This afternoon the sun was out, skies were clear and warmed things up to the low 70s, which makes it feel odd to look up and see the snow capped mountains.
