Both are likely true. I was never interested in the weather before I moved to Florida, though. But that's probably because there's anything else to be interesting in down here, lol. Small differences in weather are more noticeable in boring climates, though.

Even I wouldn't call that a poison.

I think people who live in uninteresting climates tend to more in tune with the weather for this reason. There are exceptions, of course.
I think there's a limit to how interesting a boring thing can become to you.

Florida weather is miserable, and the lack of seasonal change compared to places north just seems torturous. Like, a weather club here could at least make the fall seasonal changes a topic of discussion..

I live in a fairly variable climate but we do see extended stretches of boring weather, summer is a bore here, although it's the best part of the year as far as weather goes (imo). Winter is mostly boring, outside of snowstorms, which are never a guarantee.

Florida weather doesn't have to be the only topic of discussion though.

Too sunny. Not pleasant in my book.

Speaking of boring, I found a year for Nelson, where the highest temperature for the year was only 7C warmer than the annual daily maximum (17C/24C).

I would rather be in Wilmington, South Australia, where it is currently 9C and drizzly at 4am.

You had a year which didn't get above 24C?!

Bingley actually didn't even get to 23C in 1993, but I seem to remember your summer forecasts regularly giving 25s and 26s, so I would have thought that not getting above 24C all year was borderline impossible there.
