Unlike me, Tom just dislikes cold winters. He also dislikes the erratic temperature swings we get in the eastern two-thirds of the US in the spring. I tend to find that aspect of our climate also a bit annoying, especially since the Midwest sees even more erratic swings than the Northeast during the spring. But I guess that's why we get severe weather here. London's temps are pretty stable. If had to choose a "best" month in London, I would probably choose March, followed by April.
Depends on your def of cold. I would have no problem with our winter staying around 10F on either side of average temps. I would love it actually. But it just never happens except maybe in some freak year I haven't found yet. In Western Europe it is the freak year that temps exceed 20F or more from average. Here, that happens almost every single winter. That is what I strongly dislike.
But what was the mean temp in Jan of 1932 in London? If any winter month here would have at least tied or exceeded London that would have to be it. Our Jan monthly mean is 10F less than London. That is a very hard mean temp for us to exceed in winter. Think about that for a moment. Here we are at 40N lat and our Jan monthly mean is 10F less than London at 52N in January. Pathetic isn't it? That is why I say North America is a climate fail.
North America also has better climates than Europe. And London and a lot of NW Europe cities have pathetic summers, so it's a trade-off.
We certainly have a much larger variety. so I guess yeah.
But that doesn't mean it's "better" does it? Besides it's completely subjective, not everyone likes the same types of climate, so better for you may be awful for me...

Yeah but we have every climate type in Europe here and more.Doesn't make It better just makes It more likely to have a climate that fits you.

Which climate types are in the "more" category?
