I don't think we have those records. But I'm guessing the highest would be somewhere around 330 hours and lowest at 100 hours.

I read this as 36 hours and thought, that can't be right!

Sunniest month July 1916: 437.8 hours (recorded with the Marvin instrument which began recording at 260 W/m2 but it's effected by both diffused and direct solar radiation)

Dreariest month November 1985: 47.3 hours (recorded with Foster instrument which begins recording at 87W/m2)

The winner by a landslide in Chicago’s sunniest month competition is July 1916. The month received 95 percent of its possible 27,642 minutes of sunshine
ASK TOM WHY: Which is Chicago’s all-time sunniest month? | Chicago Weather Center: Skilling's Forecast and Chicago Severe Weather Alerts

Quote:
Thanks to the continuing efforts of Midway observer Frank Wachowski, Chicago has one of the best sunshine databases in the nation, dating to 1893. Wachowski notes, not surprisingly, that the sunniest months here are in summer. June and July lead the year, averaging 68 percent of possible sunshine followed by August with 64 percent. The city will shortly be approaching the cloudiest time of the year, with November and December averaging 40 percent and 39 percent respectively. The sunniest month on record was July 1916, when nearly cloudless skies allowed 95 percent of the possible sunshine to bathe the city. In contrast, a scant 16 percent of the possible sunshine reached the city in November 1985.
