San Jose summers combined with Sarasota winters would be perfect. No Air conditioner required in many areas of the Bay area even in mid summer.

i suspected that until i saw Fresno, which has two months with an average low of 38°F with 14 nights at or below freezing annually. meaning there are way more than 1-4 frosts per winter. Fresno is solidly 9B. if anything, closer to 9A than 10A.

Both Brownsville and Tampa have a 100 year average minimum low of around 31F. All of the other cities besides Fresno average around 29F.

nearby Arcata. Canary Island Date Palms? Or a different variety?
Although there are a few days where the fog stays away, the majority of summer in Eureka is foggy and chilly but with no rain. You were there on an anomalous sunny day.

5. Fresno

7. Eureka

San Jose is both sunnier and warmer than Frenso in winter (Fresno has thick tule fog when it's not raining and rarely gets above 60 F in December or January). Did you pick Fresno just for the hotter summer days?

8 days in each of those months is rare?

How odd. Both nei and I have been to Northern CA (nei more than once). It was very sunny while I was there and looks sunny in nei's photos. Maybe it's not that anomalous after all?

Incorrect, I'm afraid. If we use the 36 F threshold, Eureka gets 23 frosts/year while Tampa gets 5. Using 32 F, Eureka gets 6 freezes per year and Tampa gets 2.

The worst seasons in both.

I'd be happy with Fresno winters and Tampa summers.
