Why is your valley so much cooler than Turin's city?
Why is your valley so much cooler than Turin's city?
There are many possible reasons:
- we are 400 m higher than Turin center. Localities in my valley at lower elevation than us have temperatures of about 30-31°C right now
- we have constant cool breeze from the mountains, Turin and the plain do not
- Turin suffer some heat-island effect
- because of the mountains shadow, we have shorter daylight than in the plain (Turin sunrise-sunset hours for today are 5:42 - 21:19, the place where our weather station is takes a couple of sunlight hours less both in the morning and in the evening. For this temperatures have more time for lowering during the night and less time for rising during the day).
