The 4 main ones you can get OTC cheaply (paracetamol, ibuprofen, aspirin, codeine) all have pros and cons. At the moment I've only got aspirin, but I usually try to keep a box of each.

Paracetamol helps reduce fever, whereas ibuprofen is an anti-inflammatory. Aspirin is good for flu symtoms and fever. Codeine is a very strong painkiller and good for things like toothache.

Aspirin and ibuprofen can cause stomach problems and allergies. Paracetamol can cause liver problems and should not be consumed with alcohol. Codeine causes drowsiness and constipation, and is addictive.

Here you can only buy Paracetamol, Ibuprofen etc.. from a Pharmacy, which is a pain in the a**, but unlike the UK you can buy a box of 200 Paracetamol & for just €1.50 (Malta obviously doesn't care if you are planning to top yourself). Branded painkillers like Nurofen are quite expensive though, but I have only ever really used Paracetamol anyway...

I only use ibuprofen.

It helps with everything: headache, jet lag, autism, necrophilia, slavophilia, snow on the hills, adrianna derping, hangovers, dyslexia, Drumpf...

Jeez you're an even more tormented individual than I thought you were.

As for me, I stick with tramadol. Much better than ibuprofen or paracetamol.

Am I the only person here who doesn't take any kind of medicines? I literally can't remember the last time I did, must have been at least 15 years ago.

Here in Spain my dad pays 0 for everything, even expensive meds, because is pre-retired. Even the removal of a tooth or a treatment are free (in this case for everyone, even for illegal immigrants).

Btw i'm talking about prescription meds. If you want to go by your own and buy an Ibuprofen costs 1.80€ a box of 40 600mg Ibuprofens. A box of Paracetamol costs about 1€.

2 months ago I made a full blood analysis (they extracted me 3 tubes of blood + 1 additional) and in 3 days I got the results. Obviously all free. Emergency or ambulance are also free for anyone.

Omeprazol for example without prescription costs 2.10€. Prozac costs 2.40€ but they don't give it to you unless with a receipt (I know it because my uncle takes those). Any retired or pre-retired pays 0-10%.

Only if it's combined with aspirin, paracetamol or ibuprofen. Pure codeine is prescription-only.
