There are a lot of southerners here, mostly students from the Home Counties and London but a lot of them stay here after they graduate as well. The University of Leeds seems to have garnered a reputation for having loads of posh southern students.

Yeah I was going to add that in Portsmouth you would generally only hear lots of northern accents if you frequented places where students go, not sure how many of those decide to stay there though lol...
