Yes, the Old Testament in particular is often very frightening. However, Christianity does have an advantage over Islam in that they have an excellent role model, Jesus, and the New Testament which is the most important part of the Bible, is a relatively moderate text.
Although no Abrahamic religion is perfect, secularism is the future.
Yet again avoiding the problem for no bloody reason.
