Jesus Christ, I still have some family there but luckily they're on top of a hill. Worst case scenario is that they get stranded in their apartment.

Sydney is an alpha+ world city in the likes of Tokyo and Paris. Melbourne is not.

Like what the other poster said, when people think of Australia they'll have the Opera House, AMP tower and Harbour Bridge in mind, not the Eureka tower. Say, if you hate Melbourne so much, why are you defending it?

Of course Sydney is most likely to get "spoiled" by heat considering its east coast location and latitude. Amazing how someone like you, who has good knowledge of weather, gets irked when Sydney "gets it all" instead of south coast cities like Melbourne, which face the cold southern ocean.

Btw, Sydney is still relatively cool for its latitude. Compare it to Myrtle Beach in the summer and we're pretty much a "lackluster". So relax.

P.S. I love my city. Many people love their city. That's a problem how?

Melbourne-Sydney rivalry is annoying as ****. I love my city and I also think Sydney is pretty cool. Only thing I dislike about sydneysiders is when they call up at my call centre (for public transport) and brag about their stupid ass opal card, it makes me want to punch them in the face

Otherwise each city has its cons, like how you have the lockout laws and we have the weather etc etc

Melbourne CBD has really nice shopping arcades and vibrant alleyways. We don't have those in here (well, we only have one classical arcade in the city and that's it, but no alleyways).

I was never part of the Melbourne-Sydney rivalry tbh. He started it with me for no reason.

Melbourne is still an important global city. They have major world events that Sydney doesn't, the F1, grand slam tennis, international airshow, the nation's biggest horse race and other international festivals and events. Sydney has a gay mardi gras. Melbourne also has the best skyline in Australia.

It's just a tragedy that the pus nugget ultra-left labor bastard government turned it into a socialist nanny state. Daniel Andrews deserves to be assassinated, the guy's policies and antics are plain criminal.

I don't live in Melbourne. It's just Ethereal's stupid mantra every time Melbourne is mentioned.

Oh yeah, I can't stand shopping, unless it's a booze run. Especially grocery shopping, ****ing old crumpets moving at glacial pace and standing around in the middle of the aisles, little bastard kids screwing around while their soccer mums blab their rich ass mouths to each other, checkout lines taking forever, customers yapping and asking the checkout people questions blah blah blah, people standing right where I want to go etc etc etc

I actually hate shopping myself (like modern malls), but I love the look of a classical shopping arcade. Maybe because I love historical-style architecture and all that.

Nobody's saying that Melbourne is a third-rate, D list city that nobody cares about. *sigh*

Melbourne is the cultural and sport capital of Australia. So of course such events will occur there. Melbourne is an important Aussie city and it has its pros. You guys have culture and sports, we have iconic landmarks and harbor. This seems like a good compromise. And about the skyscrapers, that's purely subjective. I believe Sydney's skyline is more distinct thanks to the AMP tower, Chifly tower and Deutsche Bank Place, which give it a unique look. But that's just me.

My mantra? It was actually started by Koyansqt and I just had a perspective on his sentiment. Even a couple of other users have pondered about your actual location too (so don't throw it on me). You just have been incredibly defensive about Melbourne. So don't blame us. This is the internet anyway. We can live anywhere. Heck, maybe I don't live in Sydney myself.

Okay, why do you hate me now? I thought we got along.
