CityDig: A Snowstorm in Los Angeles? It

There some pictures in this:

Snow at pretty low elevations too.
I know that LA has recorded snow. What about Sydney's 1836 supposed "snow event"? They say it wasn't snow but a fall of graupel though.

Good find. Didn't expect that to be in the Middle East. I thought of East Africa or something.

Can somebody identify these trees?

Thanks!

And nah, you're right. Read in Wikipedia that they were introduced in Australia in the 1800s. So it's very much likely that they are camphor trees.

If it weren't for this thread, I wouldn't have known the answer to the above this conveniently.

The only problem I have with this thread is that it sounds too much like the General Chat Thread (Weather Chat Thread sounds like a chat thread for Weather forum regulars) perhaps change the name of the thread to "Meteorology Chat Thread"? Or something similar to that.

Haha am reading up on the South Pole's sun angles. It's amazing how it can be:

* Midnight sun on Mar 22 in spite of a 0.4 degree solar noon angle.
* Polar night on Mar 23 in spite of civil twilight until Apr 4 when the solar noon angle is -5.6 degrees (!)
* Midnight sun again on Sep 22 in spite of a 0.1 degree solar noon angle
* Now approaching the summer solstice it'll peak at 23.5 degrees sun angle, something 58N does something akin to 13 Oct!
* Rome and Chicago at 41 N have higher sun angles at winter solstice than the South Pole has at summer solstice!

Stunning planet this.

Yeah, I can see the similarities too. I wouldn't mind if the title is changed to something like that. Perhaps the admin can do this?

Isn't that justified though, considering that the South Pole is at, well, the south pole?

Well, the sun is up for half the year and 41 N is not exactly tilted towards the sun at winter solstice
