First time since Dec 26, 1926!? Whoa. So nobody younger than 90 yrs old had ever seen snow there.

Yuup!

And incredibly the snow has stayed for various hours with positive temperatures... as it didn't fell below 2ºC (35,6F) in the last night, and it snowed on the daytime, when it was warmer.

2017 is starting to make historical days... 2 weeks ago it snowed on coastal Crete and Corfu! https://www.zorbas.nl/snow-in-crete

But Torrevieja is definetly the most impressive. Until 26 December 1926 they didn't see snow.

Wow, interesting how mild Spanish coast is then. Torrevieja is at same latitude of Mar del Plata here, where even 10 years without seeing snow means a significant drought.

Yup, take a look at this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alicante#Climate

Alicante is even northern than Torrevieja (38º20'N) as Torrevieja doesn't have an official AEMET station.

This is Mataró, at 41º 30'N: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matar%C3%B3#Climate data is from 1931-1969, so actually it would be even warmer. It's very mild too for it's latitude.

In Alicante city it doesn't snow until that same day on 26 December of 1926. This is a photo from 1926. Credit: http://petreraldia.com/mundo-natural...a-de-1926.html

Unfortunately today Alicante city didn't received a snow flake. Besides Mataró (41º30'N), receives snow more often. I don't know exactly how often, but at least 1 time in 10 years:

That is awesome. I love freak snows, especially when it doesn't even get below freezing.

Too bad I didn't have a camera for the snow event here 6 years ago -I might never get another chance.

There are a number of locations in this area (41"S) that have no record at all of any snowfall in 160 years, and that is with quite chilly average daily minimums of 2-3C.
