Desert. For me, dry heat isinfinitely better than humid heat.

Also desert scenery is much better than tropical scenery IMO.

Your "hot desert" climate seems to match Las Vegas pretty well (except for rural aspect): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Las_Vegas#Climate

Just a quick analysis:

I'd say that the desert would be better overall for your health, mainly for the sunshine and low humidity aspect. You'd probably be willing to go outside more often in a desert area and do physical activities.

But you'd have to worry more about UV exposure and wearing sunscreen, and the dry air would take a toll on your skin, and might affect your sleep.

I'd also imagine that fresh produce would be more expensive in a desert area, as it can't be locally grown as easily. So you might make the choice to buy unhealthy stuff more often.

Tropics. Deserts are worthless climates.

It only takes a few hours to truck fresh produce from California to Las Vegas. I'll bet that for much of the year, the produce one buys in New York City (and the rest of the Northeast, the Midwest, etc.) is grown farther away than that. But, for that matter, you'd be surprised how much is grown in the desert near Las Vegas.

Desert! I lived in tropical places and the humidity and bugs are awful. Especially the places where it never gets cold enough to kill the bugs! And fungus/bacteria love the heat and humidity too!

It depends on which. If I were to choose between Monrovia and Berriane, I choose the latter for having cool winters, while Monrovia is hot year-round. I prefer having a cooler season. Also, hot temperatures can be tolerated better with low humidity.

I've lived in both Las Vegas and Hawaii. I can tell you I look 20 years younger when living in Hawaii.

I'm biased I suppose but I prefer desert climates. There's a lot more greenery and wildlife and birds and so forth than most people imagine, there's not as much humidity or bugs, and in many deserts, the summer monsoon season is nice for those who love storms. It's also quite liveable year round and many desert areas have rivers that flow through providing good soil for farming as well as riparian entertainments.

The tropics can be gorgeous, it's just a different type of beauty. The humidity and monotony of the weather in general would get to me...if I did pick a tropical climate I'd want to pick one with seasonal changes in weather to keep things interesting. Some islands with significant differences in windward and leeward weather could keep things interesting as well, e.g. some of the Hawaiian islands. One big plus to the tropics is that they often have ocean access and year-round warm water so if one is into boats or scuba or surfing or so forth, that is obviously a big enticement.

It's because they are full of life that there are so many diseases in the tropics.
