That seems to be the theme throughout the developed world.

I don't see how you can do it in summer here, especially if you work a white collar job. You might show up to work all sweaty.

In New York City it will. When I was in Chile it was easy to just call Uber all the time cause it would always come out to less than 10 bucks, in NYC you are not nearly so lucky

I think that's mostly the English speaking developed world tho. If you're going to somewhere like France or Germany they have amazing railroads that you can take wherever you need to go. It's mostly the Anglo countries which suburbanized (US, Canada, UK, Australia)

I've never seen any data to suggest that the anglo-world is far more reliant on cars. The railroads in the UK have become crappy since they were privatised, but people still persevere with them.

London is widely praised for its public transport, but it still has major congestion problems.

Railways in the UK are very heavily used, they're certainly nothing like railways in the US, Canada or Australia (in the US, the railways in the NE are probably the only thing comparable).

American rail sucks. It's akin to something from 50 years ago.

I think that the theme throughout the developed world is to use the bike, electric small cars or mopeds, trams, metros, trains and even city buses...

Using the car for working is the image of a developing and a 3rd world. Look at China or India (2 good examples of each), the traffic is terrible... China had a traffic jam which lasted days.

American rail is a disaster, most if it doesn't even serve passengers anymore

I felt like I was in India when I rode the train system in New Jersey. Washington DC was good.
