Beograd seems like a slightly tiny bit worse version of NYC. Easy win for me, Belgorod is just too cold

Yes.

In Serbian is Beograd, and in English is Belgrade.

Beograd in Serbian means white city, beo is white and grad is city.

Belgorod in Russian is also white city, bel is white and gorod is city.

You're right, altho a little correction, bely is white, but Belygorod sounds a bit awkward so they just shortened it to Belgorod

I'm confused with Serbian, because in Serbian white is belo.

In Serbian white color is bela boja or (бела боја in Cyrillic).

In Russian it is bely tzvet, or bely cvet depending on how you spell it. I think Cyrillic works the best for Slavic languages, we have a lot of "sh" or "ch" or "Sch" sounds that are kind of tedious in Latin script, just look at Polish! They have a lot of weird letter combinations that would be written with only one letter in Cyrillic

I understand Russian around 50-60%.

In general Russian is the most understandable to Serbs of all eastern and western Slavic languages.
