This month is a successful candidate for one of the coolest May in the last 30 years. The second place is likely to come after the year of 1999.

Here is the forecast for the new week.

Tomorrow will be warm and sunny before a very complex system hits Perth and the entire western australian coastline (aside from the far north). The system involves 2 plunging low pressure systems connecting over the coastline and dropping in a SSE direction down the state bringing strong winds and heavy rain. This will be immediately followed by the cold arm of the front on sunday afternoon. Another arm of the pressure system will sweep through bringing a SW change in wind direction and even more rain. Tuesday will be drier before more rain comes on wednesday leading up to another front Thursday-Friday. There'll be a synoptic chart at the bottom to explain it, also one of the original low pressure systems is tropical cyclone Mangga..yeah it's gonna be exciting

May 23- 27/10- sunny
May 24- 20/15- cloudy, squally rain (100% of 20-40mm)
May 25- 18/11- cloudy, squally showers (95% of 6-15mm)
May 26- 18/9- cloudy, shower or two (70% of 0-2mm)
May 27- 20/10- partly cloudy, showers increasing (90% of 2-6mm)
May 28- 20/11- partly cloudy, showers (90% of 4-10mm)
May 29- 20/10- cloudy, showers (80% of 3-8mm)

^^Yes it's a very interesting scenario where a multi-centred ex-TC is undergoing extratropical transition while linking up with a polar low. Severe weather warning out for widespread sustained winds of 60-70 km/h with gusts potentially to 130 km/h. Pretty dry autumn to date so the rain will be most welcome.

Tomorrow's the big day! A complex frontal system that I've mentioned many times will hit sometime midday-mid afternoon bringing very strong winds, rain and possible flooding. Winds will be N/NE and very strong as the low passes over us (it will strike in a SSE direction) with a cold front passing soon after bringing a gusty W/SW change for Monday with further rain tending showers. Tuesday will be drier and fairly cloudy, with wednesday and thursday being wetter and still cloudy as a 2nd front passes through. Friday-next weekend will be the coldest weather of the year as high pressure and some showers bring cold air over the region.

May 24- 21/15- cloudy, rain with possible heavy falls (100% of 20-40mm)
May 25- 19/11- cloudy, possible early storm and showers (70% of 3-10mm)
May 26- 18/9- cloudy, possible shower (40% of 0-2mm)
May 27- 20/10- partly cloudy, shower or two (50% of 0-4mm)
May 28- 21/11- partly cloudy, showers (100% of 8-15mm)
May 29- 17/10- partly cloudy, showers (95% of 10-20mm)
May 30- 17/4- partly cloudy, shower or two (60% of 1-4mm)

A cold arm of the front will hit very early tomorrow bringing a band of rain, cold SW winds and showers tomorrow. Tuesday will be drier and cloudy with a weak front passing wednesday bringing some light falls before a 2nd major front for the week hits thursday-friday bringing decent falls for both days. Looks like the models are starting to predict another front on Saturday night! Definitely a wet end to autumn.

May 25- 18/12- cloudy, squally showers (100% of 5-15mm), windy
May 26- 17/9- cloudy, shower or two (80% of 1-2mm)
May 27- 20/10- partly cloudy, showers (80% of 1-3mm)
May 28- 21/11- cloudy, showers increasing (95% of 5-15mm)
May 29- 17/10- cloudy, showers (95% of 20-30mm)
May 30- 17/5- partly cloudy, shower or two (60% of 0-3mm)
May 31- 18/8- partly cloudy, shower or two (60% of 1-6mm)
