Windsor gets lots of gloom and high precipitation days in winter. Not as bad as Portland. Freezing makes gloom more depressing IMO
Been to Windsor in winter many times, not west coast gloomy,
that’s a whole other level of winter gloom.
Cold days like today, plenty or sunshine reflecting off the snow, need sunglasses big time
Windsor is not in the snow belt, that would be London, Ontario or Erie, PA
Unless you get lake effect snow, winters get drier as you go westward. Midwest and Ontario mostly gets less snow than New England and Quebec excluding lake effect belts

Sunshine % is 35% or so in January, not high even if better than Portland. Massachusetts is near 50% in January
A place that gets buried in in snow? No thanks. Portland is much better.

This is why for me Windsor is a no go. It might not be as cloudy and rainy as Portland in the winter, but due to the cold it would look more dead during this time of the year.

Forgetting that USA sunshine hours are recorded differently than Canada? (and rest of the world)
you’re the one that brought it up earlier in the thread, and rightly so, it is annoying that it has to
pointed out because some posters, newer to C-D weather forum don’t know and assume they
are comparing apples to apples, when it’s really apples to oranges.
Even without “adjusting” Portland, OR sunshine stats, here is a comparison...
Portland gets less sun than Windsor in the late fall and winter,
Windsor is also 3 degrees farther south, if Windsor was in Oregon it would be
almost at the California border.
PORTLAND subshine stats if “adjusted” to be able to be compared fairly,
well there is about a 200 annual sunshine hours inflation by US recording methods/thresholds,
which translates to about 15 hrs per month....
PORTLAND sunshine stats would be more like...
64 hrs november
49 hrs december
71 hrs january
101 hrs february
Not Torshavn gloomy but still gloomy none the less.
Then use Vancouver. Portland is definitely sunnier.
Sunnier than what Torshavn
Windsor by USA sunshind recording standards has about 2450 -2500 annual sunshine hours,
or about 100 hrs more than Portlanc.
Portland has higher sunshine hours than Windsor in spring and summer,
Windsor has higher sunshine hours than Portlsnd in the fall and winter.
Look at the facts Jack they don’t lie
Sunnier than Vancouver. I don't know who decided the 200 hour difference between the US and the other system. Portland doesn't have many hazy days, so the difference shouldn't be that big.
