So I checked the weather today using two different sources for the current conditions. One says the wind is going at 9 mph and the other says the sustained winds are at 24 mph. I went ouside and nearly fell down and it felt much colder than the actual temp. I said that the first one was wrong but some guy I know says that I should take into consideration that buildings block wind. So should weather stations be behind buildings to be accurate? Are lower wind speeds more accurate?
Edit: The program seems to be faulty when it comes to wind speeds I noticed.

Hm well I decided to use the first sight to look up the same airport as the goverment site for the same airport and I still see differences between the discord bot and the goverment site.
Because different location points will give you different readings.
Even in the same location, if you put it between buildings, behind bushes, trees, or fences, on the top of high pole or a roof - you will get different readings for each one. Did you check the guide on my links?

BTW: you "nearly fell down" at 24mph?
It was a gust of wind and I was on a surface that wasn't stable. 24 mph by itself isn't all that bad, but it did make it feel much colder than normal. Supposedly the bot's software is giving off readings though. It was especially bad for Houston January of 2018 as they claimed it was snowing at 50F.
Aren't official reporting stations supposed to have the equipment set up at a specific height above the ground and with a certain amount of clear space around it, including height above a roofline, etc.?
I mean certainly elevation in general and city versus countryside will make a difference but there should not be any structures immediately around a weather station that would significantly interfere with measurement temp., wind, or precipitation.
Amateur stations - could be anything so should not be relied upon unless confirmed through another source.
