So you feel that Bordeaux and Tokyo are more similar climates, than Bordeaux and Paris, and that your system makes sense of that?

Yes, I do. Tokyo is on an east side of a continent, so it has warmer water off it's shore, which is why it's more humid in the summer than Bordeaux which is on the west side of the continent. Though places in the Mediterranean get just as humid, look at Malta in the summer for example, Mediterranean, but with just as high dewpoints as East Asia in summer

Interesting, and also quite funny - Tokyo are Bordeaux are similar climates, while Bordeaux and Paris aren't.

Do you think many on here would agree?

I find them different, Paris is closer to England than the south of France in the winter, and they only have 2-3 months 18°C+ depending on which station you use. I consider Paris cool oceanic, and if Bordeaux had a shorter warm season it would be warm oceanic, but with 4 months 18°C+ it just edges as subtropical

You disagree, fine. That's your prerogative. I'm not backing down

Your system isn't intended to provide understanding, or place climates on a spectrum, so I guess there is no need for any logic.

You made a point, on how many posters would agree with your system - do you think those same posters would agree that Bordeaux and Tokyo are much the same climates, while Bordeaux and Paris are fundamentally different?

I don't know, but many find your blind adherence to Koppen much too broad. Most don't think Orlando, FL and Baltimore, MD are in the same climate, I don't either, yet you do

I don't think that Orlando and Baltimore are the same climate, just the same classification - big difference.

I do think Bordeaux and Paris are much the same climate though, and with the same dynamics. How are Bordeaux and Toyko the same, in "real world" ways?

Actually, they aren't even the same climate to me, as Tokyo's coolest month is below 6°C, so they are temperate transistional, not subtropical. They are similar to Memphis, TN

So Bordeaux is more like Hong Kong then?, Or New Orleans perhaps?

No, more similar to a wetter Santa Rosa, CA but without the Mediterranean precip pattern

Melbourne, Australia is a better match even. The west of North America is unique in that the North Pacific High is significantly stronger than other west coast high pressure systems
