Anyway back to the weather models are just over cooking the Midwest and not seeing the convective rains along with brief cool shots. Especially the Euro

5pm mostly sunny 86F at ORD 85F at MDW and 82F at IKK which has been glitching as of late.
You sure don't wanna move to FL with year round heat as it is and will get much worse soon.

I can deal with the odd snow, but I don't like early or late snows..snow between say Christmas and Valentine's Day I can tolerate. In general I agree though that my goal is to live somewhere where I can mostly do without heavy winter gear..and need no winter tires for the car.

There's a few things about the Phoenix area that are a little worrisome though..I knew it was often 100+ but I perhaps underestimated the amount of 110+ days with 90+ lows. Also, I think if I saw a bark scorpion or a desert centipede in my bedroom I may blow a fuse.

Still a possibility. I like the Tampa St Pete's Beach area a lot. We'll see.

Looks like NWS/Chicago going for mid 90s now over the weekend. Still think storms will keep temps a bit cooler but again I'm not complaining finally a relatively hot summer here (so far). Nothing "historic" as the media hypes were saying but just generally hot.

Taxes here are insane on nice homes. 20k a year for homes on the gulf plus Ins is even worse. If you like crazy dew points then FL is for you. Just no winter weather at all anymore and nothing like you like up north.

Not over yet. If it drops to 89f before midnight, you'll break the streak! :0

Well, On to some good news

I predict that if those doomsayers are right then California could well have a very dry winter(wet season), while the Midwest suffers through unprecedented cold, boy I hope to God that those predictions are wrong, but given how awful 2020 has been such an outcome wouldn’t surprise me.

It's been extremely hot in Austin.

Yesterday was 108, today was 106. Yesterday's high was a record and 2 degrees shy of the record high for the month.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/weather/to...-m/ar-BB16H4EM

My upstairs A/C was stuck at 82F in the heat of the day (I had it set to 78) and couldn't lower to below 80 until 10PM at night because my A/C unit was sized for 100F. It got down to 78 by the morning. The downstairs A/C kept 78 all day, it's just the upstairs A/C gets the sun longer. All blinds were closed but it's just record heat.

The heat yesterday was very Desert Southwest-ish. The winds were from the West and were hot and dry, it felt like an oven. I changed a lock on my fence and I could feel the heat but it wasn't bad in the shade. The humidity was 20% so pretty low.

The heatwave should be gone by later in the week.

It's still 100°F as of 10pm, I doubt we drop 11°F in the next 2 hours. Predicted low tonight is 88°F, so this mornings 90°F will hold

This is a record heat wave. In an average year, we see 18 highs 110°F+ and 10 lows 90°F+, and that's in the city proper and Tempe. The suburbs usually never see 90°F lows
