I'm sure everyone on this forum has heard of Koppen, most have heard of Trewartha, and I definitely wouldn't be surprised if a good amount knew about Holdridge Life Zones, but members of this forum, have you ever encountered an obscure method of classification that was particularly interesting? Perhaps you saw climate types undelineated by any other system! I'm definitely curious to hear if any of you have found anything truly intriguing.
For me, there is something I encountered a while back called the Worldwide Bioclimatic Classification System which seemed really cool. There are so many things that need to be calculated to determine which zone a climate falls under, and the "Mediterranean Zone" is defined as not just a climate with a summer dry season, but also any climate with an arid portion of the year which may last for at least a few months of summer but also may last for all 12 months, so that most temperate xeric areas are in the Mediterranean Zone. Very neat!
