April 2018 ended out 8.5 degrees below normal for the month with 7 days with measurable snow. That was probably the most annoying April since I moved here. On the plus side, May 2018 ended out 5.5 degrees above normal, so a cold April doesn't mean anything for May. Be patient
Haha - it is hard to be patient after a Chicago winter...and Marches are always cold, damp, and windy so you really want and need a "decent" April.

And I don't like going straight into 80+ degree summer weather - I love, love, love the 65 - 75 sunny, breezy (NOT windy!) days of spring.

Great Falls Montana is interesting though! 8th coldest April 1-22 period since 1892.
2020 was 5th coldest. 2018 was 6th coldest!

For where I live, the values average out to 9.8ºC for 4/1-4/21, which is warm but not exceptionally so, given that April averages typically are ~8ºC. It felt weirder though because it's been quite dry for the month (<1cm, when the average is 5-6cm), leading to no accumulating snow.

Things have been weird here, with February averaging below 0ºC with an extreme low of -23ºC, and then things quickly warming up into the spring.

I don't like going straight into summer weather either, thankfully the spring is always complicated here. We've only had one warm night so far (14ºC on 4/21), and June can see both 37ºC highs and 15ºC highs; only later in the summer do things get boring.

It was the second coldest April that I have experienced in Minnesota. The coldest was 2018 which had an average of 47/28 versus this year 49/34. Very crummy but May is shaping up to be quite nice.
