We have a flood watch! Well, for the lower areas of town.
Areal Flood Watch
Statement as of 2:36 PM AKDT on May 07, 2009
... Flood Watch remains in effect through Sunday afternoon for ice
jam flooding along the Kuskokwim River from Akiak to Napakiak...
The Flood Watch continues for
* Kuskokwim Delta including the villages of
Akiak... Akiachak... Kwethluk... Bethel... Oscarville... Napaskiak
and Napakiak.
* Through Sunday afternoon
* high water levels in the lower Kuskokwim River combined with
the expectation of ice breakup moving through Akiak Akiachak
and Kwethluk and on down past Bethel to Napakiak over the next
few days increases the potential for flooding. Flooding could
occur due to the high water as the breakup front arrives at
the villages... even if the ice does not jam at a particular
location.
* The greatest threat for flooding in Bethel are low lying areas
particularly in the vicinity of brown's Slough.
Mostly clear skies with a full moon staring down on us. No wind to speak of.

to convert f into c - subtract 32, multiply by 5 and divide by 9
to convert c to f - multiply by 9, divide by 5 and add 32
so 50f - 32 = 18 X 5 = 90 divided by 9 =10
and 10c X 9 = 90 divided by 5 = 18 + 32 =50
