Yup, debey, snowfall amounts can vary widely ( as you stated ) and you probably got more than Huron.
Only 15 miles from me got 12 inches.

Marmac, you're right. I don't know if Sx. Falls even got snow. They had some rain, too, but as far as snowfall~not much to speak of as far as I know. AND that's only an hour east of here.

my daughter lives south of DeSmet,SD....about 40 miles to the NE.....1 1/2'' of snow, there.
Here's an intersting observatiion........no visible snowmelt, meaning ''water'', but the little trees, which were not visible, yesterday, are now ''poked thru'' the snow & about 3'' of them are showing!
Now, if the car stuck, in the alley was just removed, I'd be happy
