Me and my boyfriend of 3 years aren't engaged yet, but we are going to get married and we like to talk about things like this. We are thinking maybe we would like to go somewhere in New England (Maine?).
I always love hearing about where people went on their honeymoons.
First time around - went to Puerto Mujeres, at an all inclusive resort about a half hour south of Cancun. Loved it, but there wasn't much outside of the resort directly, and you had to go into Cancun for anything worthwhile.
This time around - going to Oahu, HI. Instead of staying in a chain hotel or resort, we are likely renting a house or condo and doing our own thing.
My fiance and I are going to Turks and Caico's next year for ours! We're going to sip some drinks and lay on the beach for a week and CANNOT wait for it!
We went to Florida and the Bahamas on a cruise and stay package. We had a great time! We flew down to Florida, took an overnight cruise from Palm Beach to Freeport, Bahamas. Stayed at an all inclusive in the Bahamas for a few days, then took the cruise back and spent a day at Disney World before flying back home. We were away for about 8 days.
St. Tropez, France
Monaco
and Lucerne, Switzerland
St. Tropez was ok. We were disappointed in the beaches, but it was worth checking out. We drove around quite a bit and thought Grimaud was much prettier.
Monaco is great for a long weekend. Again, worth seeing.
Lucerne was gorgeous!! We loved everything about it from the scenery/landscape to the people and we look forward to going back.
We spent our honeymoon on the island of St Lucia, in the West Indies. What an amazing Carribean Island!
Honestly, it ended up initially being our second choice after Hawaii (chosen more due to flight times/distances for the timeframe we had to spend). However, after getting there, no regrets at all!
Heh, heh... Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio. We seriously had little money, and we had to go back to work after the wedding, so all we had was the weekend. I think we took the Monday. My brother in law gave us tickets for two days there, which he got free (he didn't have much money either).
We had a blast.
Most of our crowd back then didn't have big honeymoons.
My husband and I spent a weekend in Chicago after our wedding in another Midwestern city. We stayed at a reasonably priced hotel downtown, saw a musical, visited the art museum and had dinner at a nice restaurant. We have been married for 37 years so it shows you that you don't have to "break the bank" to have a great honeymoon.
