Hi all! I'm throwing a bridal shower and was wondering is it mandatory for me to give gifts to all who attend? I'm new to all of this so all suggestions and advice are welcome.

I've never been given a gift to attend a bridal shower. Just host a small party, have a little bit of food and cake... a couple of games... you're good.

^^^ This. If you play games, there is usually a small prize, but no gifts, goody bags, etc.

That's exactly what I thought..a family member of the bride insists on giving everyone who came a bridal favor as a thank you in which I understand but I told her financially it's just a bit much for me at the moment....

I think I may have worded it vaguely so its my fault..to clarify,a family member is very insistant on bridal favor gifts for everyone who attends

Then tell her that she's in charge of favors and thank her for the offer to help.

Good idea!

I have attended three bridal showers this year, in three different areas of the country. No favors at any of them, nor did I expect any.

^^^ This.

No one needs a party favor. They're just a decorative waste of money that end up in the trash or a junk drawer.

I think that's silly. I've never gotten a present for attending a bridal shower.
