And if your driving down Federal Hwy, expect and accept a traffic jam during rush hour and traffic will sit still or barely move....and known as a "parking lot on one highway in southern Cali"~!

Traffic in general is much worse in Broward than in Palm Beach County. With that said, Boca's traffic is more like Broward's than it is the rest of PBC's. Part of this is due to I-95 inexplicably narrowing from 10 lanes to 8 right at the Delray/Boca line and not widening again until Oakland Park Blvd in Fort Lauderdale. This creates a bottleneck every morning and afternoon which also affects the secondary routes due to people using them to avoid I-95.

VeggieNut & whomever else has info,

I am looking to move to Boynton Beach from Ohio, and I would be working in Fort Lauderdale. I would be exiting 95S onto 842 (W. Broward Blvd.), and taking that to NE 3rd Ave (which has me wondering about delays, since you had mentioned N. Federal Highway being extrememly congested).

Do you have an estimate of travel time on this route? I will need to be to work by 9am and be leaving at 6pm. What have you noticed as far as worst rush hour times to travel?

This will be quite the commute.
I'd guess about an hour, and during season it will be nasty.
What is making you pick Boynton?
Why not live closer to work?

cfbs2691,

I am open to different locations. My fiancee will be working in West Palm and I will be in FLL, we are looking for something in between those areas. I know Boynton is further north for my drive to FLL daily, but we are also looking at cost. I have found a apartment complex "that seems to be nice", and in the budget we are looking for. At the least we budget we would like to be in for the 1st year lease.

If you happen to know of any nice condo/apartment complexes in Delray, Boca, or Deerfield please advise me of any. As unfortunately, we are having to move blind and will not be able to see for ourselves. We are looking for a 1bed/1bath around $1,000-$1,200. We would like the property to have a fitness room and pool.

Thank you everyone for the help and advice, anything and everything is useful info for us!!!

I-95 is a often parking lot at rush hour, $1300 is probably more the norm for a 1 bedroom for a place with all the amenities, but you can find places for less.....but they may not measure up to your expectations.

I'm not one to take the highways because they drive too fast for me down in Florida~! I've tried, but I had a trucker on my bumper so close once I couldn't see his front lights~! We all make choices, like I say....and I enjoy the scenic route when I'm visiting there in Florida. When I was down there earlier this year, they were doing road construction on Federal Hwy going towards Fort Lauderdale. I'd say start out 2 hours ahead of time and that way you can calculate the time on the road whether scenic or highways. When you and your fiancee get the chance, drive around and look at other places to live. Good Luck
