family-oriented suburbs near West Palm (Jupiter, Wellington: real estate, insurance, neighborhoods)

I have been searching the forums and real estate sites to find some family-oriented suburbs near W Palm beach. We are considering a move to the area. Wellington and Royal Palm Beach seem to be great areas with good schools. The HOAs seem very hight though. What other suburbs in the area are great for young families?? Thanks

Jupiter, Palm Beach Gardens, Boca, West Lake Worth and West Boynton.

Yeah there are plenty of neighborhoods in other areas without high HOA's. There's a few in Wellington too, most are slightly older though.

I have heard that hurricane insurance is far higher east of I-95, which is why I really didn't consider any of those places. Is that accurate?

In many cases, yes. Insurance rates have a lot to do with the structure itself, however, and not just proximity from the ocean. Age of the home, roof type and age, windows and shutters, etc.

Where it makes the most difference is when you're a mile or two off the water or less.


Even so, Palm Beach Gardens has communities West of 95, as does Jupiter. The best advice in the end is to call an independent insurance agent for hypothetical insurance rates on properties you like in any location. It's not going to be the difference between a $500 bill and a $5000 bill unless you're ON the water.

Jupiter and Palm Beach Gardens are great areas to raise a family. Wellington is good from what I've heard. The only thing I don't care for with Wellington and Royal Palm is that they are so far west.
