The addition of thousands of new jobs in the past three years is causing household income to rise at a rapid rate.

No surprise there. It continues to lead WV, and in many cases the country. Those bozos in Charleston should start taking notes, and maybe give us a little money to build infrastructure so we can improve the state even faster.
Yeah I'm not surprised either. With the university going strong, I wouldn't expect any less. Not to mention that so many people around here are driving around in BMWs, Audis, Mercedes, Cadillacs, etc. etc. I can't drive a mile without seeing a ton of really nice cars. That's definitely an indicator of higher income people in the community. I really envy those people haha

Dallas, Los Angeles, Seattle and Atlanta are flat.
West Virginia has 1.7 million people....about 600,000 of them work, the rest are aged, under 18, on
welfare or don't qualify for a job because of drug usage.
The Morgantown market reflects the 4,500 people needed each fall to staff WVU.

You see the problem with your claim is marcellius shale isnt just a Morgantown thing. It covers several states, and Morgantown, along with NCWV, dont even have the best gas areas. It does explain some of the growth, but by your logic all areas with it should have increasing income, which is often not the case.

I have noticed this. You forgot Buicks, Acuras, Range Rovers, Hummers, and even Corvettes. It seems like every 3rd car is one of these luxury brands. I just noticed this a few months ago and thought to myself, "when did Morgantown get so rich?"
Yeah, nothing says keeping up with the Jones' like a Buick
