The Highlands... which is bringing in a ton of tax money for the state. Not to mention a decent chunk of this is from people from other states...further bolstered by the gas drilling. Yet we still get no jobs worth a darn in the Wheeling area.
The service industry is booming in Wheeling due to the gas developments. Hotels and restaurants are filled, and bars are busy. In order for true, long term benefit to come from this though it will be necessary for the region to secure a cracker facility to process the abundance of wet gas to be found there. Spin off industries form that would guarantee the prosperity of the region for decades to come. Local politicos should be focused on that rather than trying to figure out ways to line their own pockets, which seems to be the norm.
Like everything else in this area, not even being thought about.just like downtown just cleared that block out for what?if they want downtown to be busy again then talk to people from chuckie cheese or magic mountain, other stuff for kids in that area so get something that will draw kids.when are they going to add to they trail?they can use common sense?people got help from the reserve units for part of the trail in short creek why not the rest?
