We will be in WV next month to ski at Snowshoe and will take a couple of days to look for some acreage to build a vacation home. Could someone give me a couple of good leads as to where we should look? We want to be within 30 minutes or so of Snowshoe and we are not interested in a condo or being in an HOA. We would prefer something near (as in backing up to) the national park and at least 2-3 acres.

We are not wealthy so price is a huge consideration. This property would be a rental several times during the year to offset the costs.

Anyone who can help in any way...I would appreciate the input.

Thanks!

A friend in Clarksburg has a 2 acre flat lot that he might sell...

We were going to build on it for him but he bought another property with an existing home...this lot is 1/2 mile from the entrance of the lodge road and directly across from the ski entrance.

Direct message me and I'll give you his name and number...do not want a stipend of any kind...

He bought it cheap...almost...none of the land up there is cheap. good luck..

Check out Red Oak Realty (www.property4u.com); they list a lot of properties in Pocahontas County.

To give you an idea of prices, a few years ago we bought 4+ acres near Hillsboro (about 45 minutes from Snowshoe) for $20K.

Some reasonably priced communities to look at that aren't too affected by Snowshoe prices are Arbovale, Green Bank, Durbin, Marlinton and Edray.

All of those places are great suggestions. I really like Marlinton and Durbin.
